The local estate around Burnley and Worsthorne including Townley Hall went to Charles three daughters; while the land
in Country Durham and in the Forest of Bowland went to John Townley's four daughters.
John was the Member of Parliament for Beverly from 1841-1852. He held the Lordship of Bowland from 1876-1878. He
inherited the estate two years before he died. His only son died the year before John died. So it was necessary to divide
the estate between John's and Charles' daughters. The portion of the estate that included Towneley Hall went to his
youngest daughter Alice. Alice married the Baron of O'Hagan
