He lived first in Gloucester and removed to Middlesex where he lived at “Grymesby” on the Pianketanke River.
He was a justice and Colonel of Militia of Middlesex County and a vestryman of Christ Church parish.
He married Alice, daughter of Lawrence Townley and granddaughter of Augustine Warner Sr., of “Warner Hall”, Gloucester Co.
Major John Grymes was a Justice in 1706 and also Receiver General of Virginia. This couples son (Charles Grymes of Morattico Hall - Richmond County) was Sheriff for that county and a member of Council in 1724-1725.
