Above the sacristy door in the chapel at Towneley Hall are the arms and initials of Richard and his wife Jane.  The North wing containing the Kitchen and dining room was started during his time, as was the two towers on either side of the main hall.

His son Charles was killed on 02 Jul 1644 in the Battle of Marston Moor.
