NOTES
Richard married twice, his wives being Lettice, daughter and coheir of William Talbot of Shuttleworth,
Lancashire (by whom he had no children) and Elizabeth, daughter of Richard Catherall and widow of
William Tempest.  In 1474 his brother Richard gave him lands at Hapton and Birtwistle.  Richard is an
ancestor of the Towneley's of Royle.
