NOTES
Jack Townley was a lifetime resident of Dawson County GA. He was a farmer by occupation. He 
was a WWII veteran and received the Purple Heart after being wounded in action in Germany.
At the age of 34 he was killed instantly when the tractor he was driving overturned, crushing
him beneath it. He was cutting a ditch for a water line near a chicken house when the machine
overturned as he started up a hill on the farm of his brother-in-law Charles Pugh. He was pulled
from beneath the tractor soon after it overturned; but he had already passed away.
